I2C Network Installation

Hardware installation

Be sure that you have everything that is needed for succesful installation:

Connect RS232 cables to a device and to standard PC serial COM 1 port (port selection is not supported yet).

Connect both devices to I2C bus.

Connect one of them to a power supply. There is guard diode which prevents you to confuse a power with a ground wire.

 

Software installation

Extract files to some directory and run install.bat. This copies all necessary files to system directories, installs I2C Driver and runs "Add Hardware Wizzard" that is needed to install I2CNET Driver to provide network functionality.

Click Next. The system will search for Plug And Play devices. Our device is not PNP so next dialog box appiers.

Select "Yes, I have already connected the hardware" and click Next.

Choose "Add a new hardware device" and click Next.

Select "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list" and click Next.

Choose "Network adapters" and click Next.

Click "Have disk".

Click "Browse", navigate to install disk, double click I2CNET.inf and than OK.

Select "NoMa I2C Network Controller" and click Next.

In the next dialog box confirm installation with clicking Next again.

Click "Continue Anyway". This is necessary because we have not authorization for our driver by Microsoft.

Now the driver is installing. After installation click "Finish".

 

Configuration

Now is new network connection in "Network Connections" folder and you can set any settings like in other connections.

Set IP address and other

In Advanced tab in NoMa I2C Network Controller Properties (Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> right click NoMa I2C Network Controller -> Properties -> Advanced) set MAC address for I2C Network for the bus controller. Values could be from 16 to 160. Also set MAC addresses of other controllers connected to I2C bus. (Currently only one remote controller is supported).
